Hi I'm new to forum! I am thinking of putting a 903 or 1050cc engine into my original 767cc 600 car I understand that the cam will have to be changed along with other relatied parts. My question is what is the performance difference between the two engines. I believe th 903 is from an 850 and the 1050 would be the same as the Autobianchi A112/850s. Obviously I would like the strongest type of engine and to me "More cc = more torque"

Hi Clive, and welcome to the club site.
Ok, the 903 and Autobianchi A112 is the same basic engine. The 1050 is a Brazilian engine that also appeared in the 127GT as a 1301cc engine. This engine is often confused with the 128 based engine, but infact is totally different.
The 903 engine can be taken out to 1050cc and many replicas use this engine as base for their cars.
Another engine and for me a better choice, would be the Fire engine of 1242cc. With the right bits, can make around 95bhp quite easily.
There are a few conversions shown on the internet, and make for a very quick car.
Last, fitting a bike engine is another choice, and again videos on the net showing it done.
End of the day, its all down to budget. Your 600D, would need seam welding, as the chassis would be tired, and I would fit a roll cage to further make it rigid. The end result would be worth it!!

Thanks Andy...What are the bores of the 903 & 1050 also the stroke, if i have the choice of either which is the best to use as a doner? Cranks etc. With ref to the 1242cc.will it "just drop in" as I do not want to to do any body mods just a front radiator slung under the bumber. rear hood may have to have a spacer but that's fine. I want it to look as standard as possible ! a wolf in sheeps clothing!

This link is for Nigels site. It is about modified Fiat 500's, but they are not dissimilar to you 600.

As you can see from Nigel's site, the 1108/1242 8v, will fit under the 500's hood, so easy in the 600.

The 1050 I found a bit of a disappointment, and the heads can crack around the Chambers, but choice is down to available parts etc. End of day, cubic capacity wins for me.
The 903 engine is tough, and one of the longest engines in production for Fiat. There used to be a cambelt conversion kit available for it. New chains can start to chatter after little mileage, but are fine.
Have a talk with Nigel. He has a wealth of knowledge.
